"Maybe someone will want to hunt me if I cross some borders in physical form," Death said slowly. "I shouldn't come unless it's safe for both of us."

" Oh. " child seemed relieved it's that in case, as it probably would offend him if Spirit thought knowing them would be beneath him. "I am not advising you to get us all killed, oh no. I would hope for your discretion in not telling anyone about us. But actually... you were hunted right now, but didn't it turn out well for you, that you decided to come to us for aid? " child suggested hopefully. " Who would suspect an old fort surrounded by ruins, in the centre of the endless forest from all sides? If you get in trouble, that's all the more reason to come. Father seems better... And this place... It is finally... Breathable. " he smiled shyly. " Even if you don't get too better, it should still be safe for you now without miasma. Presences of people within are hidden, as you know... If you are in trouble, why don't you come? No one else figured out I was not a normal kid unless I'd tell me, anyway. Even if someone comes looking for you, I can put up an act and pretend there's nothing suspicious. I can act like a frightened kid, I've fooled worse. If it comes to fight, the father can defend you, I can work on growing more food so you have enough to eat, and we will all keep you company so you're not bored. You're not easily bored, right? I, I don't know how your nature works... " he blushed a little and coughed. " I mean... The point is... You'd be safe either way. It... Is an invitation. "

"Thank you, I appreciate that," Death said. "But I hope I can achieve a state when I won't be hunted... even if it comes with some restrictions for me. If I would become a fugitive, I would gladly seek sojourn here. But if coming would mean breaking some restriction put on me, then it might be better for all if I don't do it. That's just one option though, one of many."

Emil understood. He looked down and he seemed to grow more withdrawn, but he didn't berate him, and he said nothing of it. It seemed that he had been rather open with Death since they met, opening up to him freely when they had so many interests in common and as they clicked - but while Death's plan did make sense as an option in politics, it still hurt as an option in reality.

" Well... The whole world's fate depends on yours, so... I guess it's most important... it's a better option for you. " he forced a little smile as he changed the subject. " When we are at that, there's a tray of food at a table, is it yours? Maybe it would be best for you to eat, to ensure you have most of all those options. I brought more herbs, I could make us some tea with honey if you agree... "

" Right, right... " Child cleared its throat. It carefully slipped from the bed that was, despite not too high for a tall adult Cernunnos, still high enough for him, because he was so small in stature. Then he picked up the tray from the table and offered it to Death. " Okay, you may eat, and I'll take care of the tea party in the meantime... Deal? "

Emil seemed to feel a little unsure and awkward about the situation, but he managed a little faint smile too.
" Your backpack with supplies is over there, and honey and fruit we brought are at a table... so tell me if you need anything, and I'll fetch it for you," he whispered, and he left to the side, and he carefully picked out some from the herbs he brought from his own bag, and he filled the kettle and began making the tea.

"Um... do you have any spices?" Death asked a bit hesitantly. "Just if you do and it's no trouble..."

" For the food? It's generally better when spices are added during cooking, not afterwards. If you crave spices, maybe I could cook you something? " child raised his look. " But yes, I did bring them as ingredients when I decided to make a soup. Let's see what you'd like... " he said, and he went to his bag, and he began to list the things he had, so Death could pick what he wished.

"May I have some just so to eat with the fruit?" Death asked a bit hesitantly, knowing his tastes are not that usual.

" So you like it with spices? Why didn't you say so sooner? I let you eat bare fruit in the other fort too... If I had known, I would have given it to you sooner, or I could have mixed up some in with your honey or the tea too... " Emil shook his head and offered Death a whole handful of various tasty spices, and then two more, making sure he has plenty to save his appetite.

"It's fine without the spices too," Death said. "It's just a small indulgence, I didn't want to bother with it..."

Emil smiled a little at that.
" You ask for things just like my father... Timidly, like you're afraid of being refused... You shouldn't.  " He whispered." Let me tell you what I always say to father... you aren't being selfish or needy. You are just asking for little bit of happiness, that's all. It is not a bother, but a pleasure to give. Here, have some more... " He said gently, and he picked him out some more tasty rare spices, seeing creature would not ask for more if it ran out. It also picked out some more of the tastiest fruit for him.

Emil returned to making of the tea, but he would glance every now and then, to see if he has plenty to eat or needs more.
He made the same tea for himself like before, but for Death's, he altered the previous recipe a bit to accommodate his unusual tastes, working more carefully and attentively on the experiment. He made it be soothing and nutrient but also added a lot of honey and made it stronger, with unique more bitter undertones in flavour that wouldn't be tasty to the most of people, but were tailored to Death's unique preferences. He carefully brewed it, and when it was done, he placed his cup at the table, and first handed Spirit his own cup.

The child grinned at the unexpected praise, as while he was pretty sure he did a good job, he didn't think it'd be so well received. He seemed a little embarrassed but also placated.

" That's because I made the first tea as I would for an ill upset Spirit to soothe it, " he admitted, as he sat down on the bed, taking his cup of tea. He sipped it quietly, before adding. " Now you've told me more of your tastes and I've realized they work differently... So I've tailored it for you. "

" I don't have anything to write it on, but if you feel up to it, I can tell you the recipe later, so your friend Tide can make it for you when things settle down a little... Not counting our unique kind of honey, the ingredients aren't that rare, it's all in the preparation... " Child just said quietly, seeming little charmed and wondering with Death's shy attitude. He leaned back on one of the pillows, staying on polite distance from him, and sipping his tea too alongside him.

Emil nodded. While they were drinking quietly, he began speaking, and between sips, he carefully and going into every detail explained how he brew Death's tea and how to achieve the perfect balance of sweet and sour in it.

Death memorized it effortlessly while sipping the tea. He was starting to wonder already where Tide and Cernunnos are, as they have been gone for a while.

They didn't come yet still. They must have hoped they may find it in time, and it prolonged, just by moment, by moment. The child was quiet. After a while, when they finished the tea, he put the cups aside and it whispered.
" I don't feel your hunters in the forest yet... But I have an unrestful feeling. It could be they could be drawing closer., or it could be that I am just worried. I don't know. " he said quietly after a while. " But I know that mirror is important... So I'll stay here with father and we will look for it, and tell your friends you are safe the first moment. If you're going for the sea, it may be that sooner you leave, the better chances you'll have... "

"Tide will be unhappy if the mirror is lost or broken..." Death bit his lip.
