"Ignore or neglect souls?" Death asked, as if Tide suggested something unimaginable to him, like stabbing himelf in the foot for no reason. "I can't do that. I don't do that."
" You don't do that, but you could, just like I could make someone's head explode with water bending, but I don't. Physically, I could do it - but imagine the terrible emotional toll... " Demon shook his head firmly as if feeling sick to his stomach, but he continued speaking as if feeling very strongly about this. " It's just too much. It's an as hard toll for me to use something I feel is sacred to me as it is to use something sacred to you for such purposes. You could use your vital position in healing circle to blackmail people to your advantage, even, but you're horrified even of that thought. And you know what? " demon pointed finger at Death firmly. " That means you're nice! You should own it, not run from it! You just have a problem with asking too much of yourself. I mean, you saved this lovely world for us all from breaking... " he smiled a little frailly, gazing intently with his insecure shy blue eyes for Death's response. " What can be a bigger accomplishment? You deserve better from yourself, than wallowing in so much shame. "
" And I will help with your fever... You deserve better than all this. I am just stating facts, too." Demon replied, and he timidly extended his aching hand to Death.
Tide moaned a little, breathing through it, still needing a little moment to get used to the unusual feeling of such close presence of the Spirit. Once he cleared up his mind a little, he seemed a little bit embarrassed for needing such time, so he right away shyly waved away with his healthy hand, and melted a little of water from the ice capsule around them, warming it, and slowly beginning to envelop Death in it, once he assured he's ready.
Tide didn't want to lower fever directly through bloodstream as he wasn't sure that Death approved of it, and he wanted to be less instrusive and not cross any lines, so he tried to lower the fever with the touch colder bath water, hoping it would work so he wouldn't have to ask weak Spirit for more.
It was too little for Tide to be content, though, knowing how big journey lies ahead and how disadvantageous it is that they forgot Spirit's medicine, so he worked up the courage to ask.
" Hmm... Not bad, but you know... " He suggested." You would feel much better if it was lower. It seems we can't lower it much more with water, but I could lower it directly through your bloodstream, like before... If you would like... "
Death struggled with the concept for a moment, but because the others might depend on his abilities, ehether illusions or healing, he overcame the hesitance and agreed.
Tide smiled slowly with it, relieved. He knew Death only goes along because he feels he has no choice, though, so he only started slowly, and he made sure to keep intent watch on his body language, so he could do it in less threatening pace.
Death let him work and focused on their surroundings instead, since Tide couldn't pay attention to it. It seemed that no hunters were close at the moment, though.
Tide focused on his task fully, as it seemed he wasn't used to multitasking when it came to things like those that required a lot of attention. He lowered Death's fever as much as he could, and then he cleared him out from sweat with water, and then dried his clothes and warmed them up. Only then he breathed out, as if he's been holding his breath, and smiled shyly.
" Thank you, " he whispered. " It feels good, to be able to do at least something... "
Death looked still tired, maybe even more than before, but just a little stronger when the fever subsided. "We should leave now," he said. "If you turn into the snake, you'll wrap me in the scarf, right?"
" Of course, if you agree to. " Tide replied readily, his face lit up when he realized Death considers his plan . He added fervently." If it would be absolutely required, I'd agree to not do it, sure, but in those circumstances... I think skin to skin contact like that would be rather stressful to us both. So, if you're also in favor of making things more comfortable, I think wrapping you up in a scarf would be best. I fear neck brace won't exactly fit the snake form, but you could still curl around it too if you'd like. Something is better than nothing. If not, I can put it in the bag for later... "
Tide gasped with it, as he's never seen Death's snake form from the distance - and under the firelight, the obsidian scales were shining in colours he must have found enchanting, for his eyes were glowing, as to a kitten that found something shiny and bright. He realized he's staring, though, and he coughed and seemed all embarrassed and shy about it. Hesitantly, he began wrapping Death in the scarf, as they agreed.
Tide seemed to have found that adorable, gazing upon the critter fondly, as he was slowly wrapping it up. He did it the best way he could to make sure it's comfortable until it was barely seen, all wrapped up carefully in the soothing fabric - but not too tightly, and leaving it a little bit of space around the head so it could breathe.
When he was done demon seemed very pleased with his work, and it seemed to have managed to distract him a bit from their unfortunate circumstances.
" Are you ready? Would you like me to pick you up and put you under my shirt now? Or..." He looked a little thoughtful." Would you maybe like me to wrapped up your wrapped up form in my cloak before putting you in my shirt? Sure, it's big one, and you'll look like a jam in a center of a pie, and I'll look like I am pregnant with you and the scarf and the cloak... He grinned." But I've looked ridiculous for lesser things. You didn't seem to mind my cloak too much, so I just want to know how you feel about it... "
" Well, my friend uses to say, where there's a will, there's a way. But I'd say you're too tired for much willing around, ain't you? " demon smiled a little. " Come on, you... cute little thing. Let's get you all ready for a flight, " he said, and he slowly and gently reached for the bundle, and carefully picked it up so he could place it against him.
