Hans was watching the flowers thoughtfully and still a bit tensely as Senecio spoke, his feelings reflecting his apologetic and sadder gaze.
" I... understand. It's intimidating and it's a lot to ask for. I knew from a start that I am asking for a big thing. That's why I planned to steel my heart and wait until your disposition of me rises. Until it is less of a big deal to ask. But... You were just so attentive to me, and you wanted to use your hard earned wish on me, and I thought... Maybe it will be fine to ask, after all," he sighed." That was really illogical and demanding of me, I know, but in the spur of a moment, I could not resist the temptation to ask..." |
Administrator
"Well, I guess we are even then, because I also asked for something that's a big deal," Senecio said. "And your suggestion is a big deal, but it's not a big deal to accept it. Or did I accept it too lightlt? How did you imagined or hoped I would react? Because, if you ignore the awkward name associations, I'm all for it, even though for the deeper consequences, I'll need some time to take it all in. Why do you think it wasn't fine to ask?"

" I don't know... Maybe because the only human family you knew of, your father, showed you little to no care, trained you as an assassin, used to lock you with corpses and worse to dull your humanity, and basically indirectly ordered you to be abused in the theatre just because becoming a great actor meant possibly getting closer to the emperor to kill him?" Hans murmured, with a bitter tone as he described the person he clearly held in contempt for." Human adoptions only have a parent-child option, and it's an option I prefer, anyway, but... Naturally, I expected my wish to face with some backlash, when your last human family bond was like that, so long ago. I mean, logically, I expected you to be shocked and need time to take it in, but.. deep down, I hoped I would be wrong, since you are so accepting of many strange things, and that you will be excited and happy, like me... I was honestly being unrealistic, " he was rubbing his wrists absentmindedly." I know you think little of yourself in many ways, but... I feel like you a pretty great kid. I can't imagine how someone would not feel proud to have you as their son. I know it's hard to get my impatience, but while I was losing you the other day... I felt, this... This is how it must feel like, to lose your kid. A terryfing, unexpected blow, and unimaginable emptiness... You would die, without any human family, and people would say, Senecio, last di Parvaio, died. Nobody would say that my child died, but that damn man's... "

"I'm sorry I didn't follow the script you imagined," Senecio said gently. "Honestly, I know it sucks when you imagine something you care about and it goes differently. I don't really know how to accurately describe how I feel. I prefer being nonchalant about it, so that I can accept it happily without going too deep into old emotional baggage territory. I'm not sure I'm ready to renounce him completely yet, so there are some things I'll eventually need to deal with. But the part about accepting you doesn't really need much thought. I *am* excited about that part."

Hans's heart lightened up a little with statement, as it reassured him a bit about his growing fear - that Senecio may accept this for practical reasons, but deep down, not really want it. He seemed shy after sharing weight of his heart so openly, but glad still to learn he wasn't alone in this feeling. As they were sitting together, he timidly reached with his hand, and placed it over actor's, pressing it lightly.
" I... will give you all the time and help you need to deal with it. I am... excited about being human family with you too. If it counts for anything, I think anyone will be envious of how smart and acomplished heir my house has," he grinned a little more freely as he turned to him, himself also finding it easier to deal with the unexpected situation by joking about it, despite knowing his feelings hold warmth that was nothing if not genuine and affectionate. " I... am glad I was just the first decent nobleman to realize it and got a chance to be the first to call the dibs on you. Finders keepers, am I right? " |
Administrator
Senecio smirked at the absurd idea of noblemen fighting over who gets to adopt him. "I'm rather afraid you would be mocked for picking a heir who quite obviously, by human standards, doesn't want to produce a heir."

" Well, as long as you are with Tide, he can technically change genders, so if you choose, you can make me a cute little grandkid. I am telling you that just because Tide has dreams about having kids with love of his life, so keep that in mind for the future, but honestly, there's no need to rush," he promised, adding firmly. " I know some people will be superficial and foolish and criticize my choice despite you are a catch. Don't let them discourage you," Hans said more firmly, speaking with confidence, as if marking something important." Just tell all the pesky doubters that you told me you don't feel like making kids and that I was fine with it. I am adopting someone because I choose not to have biological kids, too, aren't I? We can say that I am simply fine with you making a tradition out it. You can just say that I think it is natural that you adopt an admirable individual in your later years when you find someone you are fond of. We are Eldergods, doing our own thing... Aren't we?" he grinned." There is no reason why we can't just show all the biological child purists a middle finger and occasionally ruin their business or two out of spite. We will probably have a decade or two until Svarik and Falcon are able to establish proper laws against monopoly in the market, so we have lot of time for shenanigans and petty shows of power. I thought everything through. "

"Heh, okay then. And I know about Tide, he told me all of that." He smiled faintly then. "So are we done with difficult conversations for today? We really deserve some shopping..."
Administrator
" Well, you initiated this last one, but in any case, yes, we really deserve to spoil ourselves with a lot of nice things," Hans nodded earnestly, and added only carefully then." I mean, one last question, just so I can know how to proceed... From what point would you like to be, as is most likely, Senecio di Parvaio Eldergod?" He inquired with a timid feeling." I, I can adjust to your schedule. Do you want me to pretend I didn't ask and just bring it up yourself when you feel you are ready to take up the offer?"
Administrator
"No, I accepted the offer," Senecio said. "We should find a timing thay suits our other plans best. Not before the trial for the political play, I suppose. That wouldn't be very wise. "
Administrator
" It is only recent development, so yes, it is new variable. But we should decide considering everything, yes." It is a little disappointing, and I hate to say it, but it would probably be wisest to wait until the play is plaid out, and the law gets passed.. well... " He commented mischievously as he made the choice." I better begin writing fast and overpay this one as well, so we can get over that pesky trial sooner. "

"I'd prefer taking this one more easy," Senecio murmured. "We can have nice rehearsals together, and we need to wait for the news about Simbel to spread here anyway. And... that helps, right?" he pointed at the violets. "The setting will be outside, so we can put a lot of flowers on the stage..."
Administrator
" That is true," Hans nodded lightly." I am a little hesitant to put real flowers on, because they can fade and require lot of care... I was thinking about having out being craftsmen make artificial flowers of all kinds that look lush and bright. And we need to solve a problem of greenery. We can't have a simple stage in a play about meadow king. How do you usually work on that? I was thinking about maybe making a fluffy green carpet, or at least a layer of Being made artificial grass. If it's not green and bright full of flowers it just doesn't feel right... "
Administrator
"There’s a green carpet at the theatre that we use for outdoor scenes," Senecio murmured. "But I'd prefer real flowers, for the first play at least. The smell really helps to focus on the present..."

Hans turned head towards him with more worried undertone, before nodding earnestly, changing his mind with the new information.
" I am glad you told me... You know, when I think about it, you are right, real flowers are really cool little life bits, aren't they?" He grinned a little." I am going to get you so many top class flowers that we will be oozing in the scent of flowers for weeks, what do you say? And meadow king is famous for being barefoot all the time, so just some old green carpet is unacceptable," he spoke passionately." I am going to get you such a soft carpet you will be constantly wrestling in temptation to roll around in it, okay? Hmm, when I think about it, Alpha can embed a sence of smell too, if conditions are met. After we first decorate the scene, I am going to make him embed the heck out of that flowery scent in the new carpet, plus some of his enchantments for soft texture and soothing feeling around it, so that later, even if we won't use real flowers all the time, the scent will remain. I mean, we are marketing ourselves on insane, top notch quality of everything we do, don't we? And if we can't start on new play right away, and will keep playing the old one, I will use that time cunningly and make a heck of a great renovation plan with Janus, so by the time of the new play being crafted, we have a brand new look and feel to it, too..." |
Administrator
"I think rolling on the grass carpet would be rather in character," Senecio smiled. "Thank you, I'd really like to take this play easy. Do you think Tide and Alpha are already finished talking to Eros? Let's go ask Tide if he wants to take the role."
Administrator
" We took a bit longer because we had two talks, but I can feel through the fabric they are with Eros still. Perhaps they are having a good chat and are waiting for us to call them when we are done? After we return the violets where they belong, if you are neutral towards seeing Eros, could... You go pick them up and bring Tide here?" He bid reluctantly." It's just that I have been through a bit of the too wide range of emotions, and my legs feel all wobly and weak... and a little cold.. I think it may be better if Tide carried me. He would give me hell of a day if I fell down the stairs..."

"Sure," Senecio nodded and took the violets. He left them in his room and watered them a bit before going to the others in Eros's room. As he got there, he knocked on the door.

A moment later, door opened, and Alpha curiously peaked out, and grinned brightly, with bubbly feeling of seeing something adorable. Senecio could see Eros and Tide sitting on the bed.
" Oh, little cutie pie? " Alpha asked." We were just wondering where you are. Why is the other cutie pie not with you? Is he still talking with the rest of cute squad?" |
Administrator
"No," Senecio smiled, a bit amused by the expression. "He's not feeling too well to walk much yet, so I came for Tide to carry him."
Administrator
" Oh, yes, Hans never feels too well after he tries to Sing, it is indeed good choice to rest up while his soul is still all mushy, " Alpha approved.
Tide stood up as well with the words. " Is he running the fever again?" Being asked, indeed worried a little as he looked at the actor. " Did the talk with little Svarik not go well? I was sure it would be alright, since Svarik is, how Alpha said it? Cutie pie, too. It is hard to imagine Svarik making someone nervous, but Hans is a little sensitive to him." |
Administrator
"It went okay, but it was a bit tiring to him so soon after just getting up," Senecio said, not wanting to go into details of their other talks. "We stopped on the way here, I'll show you the room," he told Tide. |
Administrator
" Yes, we must take special care today while he is still recovering to make sure he doesn't strain too much without breaks," Tide nodded earnestly, glad since it didn't seem too bad." Alright then, let's go! See you later, Eros! Thanks for the talk... "
" No need to thank me, it is nothing much. Good luck on your travel," Eros replied, waving to them, smiling a little shyly at Alpha, who was dramatically waving away with three hands. He remained on bed though, with a touch more nervous unsure note - it seemed he tried to make himself smaller and not draw attention to himself, hoping he won't make Senecio uncomfortable that way. |
Administrator
"Thank you," Senecio said with a shy hope, trying to show that he's willing to try starting anew again sometime.
Administrator
Eros didn't seem sure how to interpret the hopeful feeling he perceived, directed at him - last time they spoke, after all, even when it seemed to him things are going well, it was hard to predict if Senecio will react negatively. Maybe that's why Eros tried to figure out the safest reply possible, fighting against the urge to not respond with automatic advice as soon as he is being shown some good will.
" There... there's no need to thank me for good wishes. Honestly, it's just courtesy to wish you luck that you won't need, " he stuttered a bit, but still dared to give him a little smile. " All four of you have such good compatibility with each other... And everyone's feelings seem to sink up nicely today. It is a fact it will be hard for you not to have fun today. " |
