Melody nodded hesitantly, and she put on a brave face, wanting to support him, thought it seemed hard to her.
" I have poured lot of my strength into you... you was very weak last night. I will have to go down and eat, too. " she whispered then, and she managed to bring herself to smile very lightly. " You... Please, eat plentifully, Mister Sunshine. You need to, if you want to keep playing music and doing magic like you used to. Eat... Eat plenty of cake, too. It's not exactly healthy food - but you've seen Nameless, he is so very thin, even though he eats vast amounts of caloric food in his diet. He needs to eat so much, just to stay alive, as someone with his heritage. Maybe cake that is sugary and creamy will help a bit to you, as well... I hope... "
" You weren't been eating... properly. Vegetable food can fill you up, but it offers not same nourishment. " girl brought herself to say as much. " It is your choice... And I will support you in it as long as I can... But playing music, Sun... it's equivalent of doing hard manual labor. It takes so much from you. Your body has evolved, to digest all foods... But you wouldn't give a heap of carrots to a hungry field worker, would you? I wouldn't. Just... Please, be careful. If you chose this path, you may not be able to play as much as you desire to, and it may certainly not be last day, that you'll feel faint after playing music. I need you to be careful, Sun... You just starting gaining some healthy weight and your cheeks are plump and rosy, and I'd hate, to see you anew grow sickly thin and pale as I met you.."
" Dear, I am a Spirit, and I am in ever more privileged position than you - and even I can not play properly when I am malnourished. I haven't felt as good in a long while, than in last few years, with all the proper nourishment in Birdie's home. " girl whispered. " Maybe sweet food will help... And maybe at summer, it could be little easier... And maybe when you start doing summer rituals again and groom your bond with land stronger again, it may be better... And maybe bit less prominent, with White's nourishment, too... I hope, at least... But how much you play, it will be less... And the thought of seeing your current health sipping through my fingers... It is... very painful for me, my Sunshine. To think I'll see you grow thin and pale anew... "
Xia was watching exchange uncertainly, not understanding as much of human language to get everything, but getting as much, that Svarik was in some kind of turmoil, and watching him with worry, howling.
Svarik pressed his temples. "I had sweets yesterday, and it didn't help much..." he murmured. "I will talk about it with Xia, when Tide is free, so we can decide what to do together."
" Thank you, dear. I am proud of you." Little Spirit smiled fraily, and she stood up from the bed, and she embraced him shyly and dearly, with love and support, glad that king will reconsider this.
" But you still chose to reconsider the decision made, when you learned new facts. There is no shame in that. That is a sign of an open mind, that does not hold on stubbornly to the past, but is open to change to the better. " girl whispered, embracing him dearly in support still. " I am still proud of you. I will support you through this, and look after you the best I can, none the less. I am your mom, after all.. " she smiled a little. " And that's what moms are supposed to do... "
" Good luck, dearest. " girl bid his bye, and she made sure they are well prepared and ready, before Xia took on a winged fox form, and after her two passengers climbed up, she took of nimbly through the window, toward the 4th city.
Some twenty minutes later already, the group was allowed in, and sent to the kitchen, as Sage's men of confidence. Jake was there, and while weary and with lingering gloominess as usual, he seemed flustered with sudden change of plans, as he seemed to have already been dismissed.
" This is bit embarrassing... I didn't expect you till noon, sire. " he said. " That said, I made you cake, but I didn't have time to prepare lunch you requested - but we can still eat cake. I also had time to make some rainbow cookies that you like, so we can dine on those as well. Is that alright? "
"Let's have some breakfast then, and cake on the top," Svarik smiled. "We missed them to get here sooner... and also to keep some space for the cake..."
Jake didn't want to dishonorably spend supplies from the kitchen for his own guests, so he seemed to have used his last pay to buy the best and sweetest ingredients for this last cake. After they picked some breakfast and finished it, he brought it out, and it could explain some of his weariness - as he probably had to work big part of the night, to make it so lovely and tasty.
It was three stored cake, not too big, but very lovely decorated. Jake made it the same kind of rainbow cake as king had on the coronation day, and he even decorated it with edible green grassy hills, sugar flowers, and little sugar sculpture of a blonde haired man in green, playing a flute beneath a cute little sugary apple tree - a little nod of friendship to meadow king. He even gave a tiny meadow king sculpture a little flower crown. It was very delicious, and Jake, attentive as he was even in his own sadness, made sure everyone in kitchen got at least one slice of the delicious colorful treat.
" Ah, you flatter me. If I had more time, I'd have looked better, but I was on tight deadline. " Jake smiled a bit, but he seemed pleased with king's reaction, as it reminded him on Svarik's numerous praises to his food back at the capital, and it was a nice memory. After they've eaten, he also made sure to leave three generous cake slices, to kids of the lord of the manor, as well as some of the numerous rainbow cookies he made.
"I hope you will like the new place," Svarik said when he finished eating. "Tide needs a personal cook, so the Sage was glad to take you on that place..."
" I am aware you probably pulled of a convenient position out of non existence just to make sure I'll have it easier. " Jake smiled faintly. " You don't have to deny it... I will be fine with Tide, sire, really. It's just three months. Whatever the job would be, I'd do it. I just want to be close enough to be regularly updated on how things are going back home, that's all. "
"Being non existent before doesn't mean it's not needed. Tide hurt his hand and food helps him to feel better, so it's good that he will have a personal cook," Svarik said.
A little streak of worry passed across lad's face, and he nodded more seriously.
" He is very kind critter... I'd never wish him anything but good. " he whispered. " If I can help at least that little - well, why not? It's certainly more meaningful, than this... I shall try not to disappoint you in this. Shall we go, then, sire? I am already packed and ready. "
" I don't think I feel like wanting to bid goodbye to anyone anymore. Just to keep going, sire - further and further, not looking back. " cook whispered. " With your permission, i'd just like us to go. Goodbyes make everything needlessly hard. Let us just leave, sir. "
