" I'd be charmed. " cook nodded to little demon critter, and he took his things - but one simple backpack, full with books of recepies and one change of spare clothing; all his belongings. He gave a sign that he was ready, and they walked out, to the place where Xia could fly up.
Svarik was looking forward to Jake's reaction to flying. He let him sit in front and showed him how to hold on firmly, but assured him that Xia wouldn't let him fall.
Despite the apathetic and melancholic attitude he was having these days, Jake seemed tense and anxious, both excited and fearful before this new experience. When they took of from the land, he couldn't help but to cry out as Xia flew up, and grasp closely around her neck. But when he sow he's not falling and initial shock subsided, the thrill of the flight seemed to be too much, and his eyes teared up, and he was chuckling a little as he was looking around, the laughter being unexpected sensation, but only one to naturally come with the danger and marvel of flying - and in it, Jake seemed to forget his ordeal, if but only for a moment.
Svarik was delighted to see him smiling, and asked Xia to show him different sights, and fly both high to the sky and low above the sea, almost touching the water.
While flight above the waters was fun, young cook seemed to most enjoy the flight way up in the air, it being whimsical and magical to experience the world from such wondrous highs. While he would often chuckle here and there, he most seemed to be soaked in exploring the wonders of the world from above, seeming both a little cheered up, and a little wistful.
Svarik let Xia share her joy of flight with Jake, enjoying both the flight and the cook's reaction. They made a big circle around the city and above the sea, flying high, and only when it was almost noon, they turned to Sage's house to land on the terrace.
When cook slid down Xia's back, he tried to catch his breath, still a little shaken with excitement, and he stuttered, to thank them for the lovely flight, pausing shyly to caress Xia gently and respectfully, though with hands still trembling with excitement - but his confusion only lasted as long. Right at that time, Melody came by to them, and she beamed, glad to see Jake again, and young cook, despite the gloom, could not help but be happy, unexpectedly so, at the sight of pure little critter of sun, adorable and beloved by him; and he rushed to greet her kindly, hugging her and bidding her welcome lovably.
Svarik thanked Xia as well, giving Jaks time to greet Melody. Sage said he will prepare a room for you," he said then. "Let's find him to ask which one it should be."
" Oh.. Alright... I hope I am not too much trouble.. " Jake seemed little embarrassed, as if he feared he will be given special treatment because Svarik personally bid for him. He was more shy as they progressed to search for Sage, seeming little more timid and embarrassed. It was not long, before they found Sage, in the kitchen, discussing some arrangement with his main cook there.
Sage explained all is ready for Jake, and that everyone in kitchen is explained his new position, so he won't be having any problems. He didn't have to start today, he can start of tomorrow. His room is already fresh cleared and prepared, so he can show it to them, if they like.
"That's good. Yes, we can go there first so he can put his things there. And is Tide here? I would like to talk to him for a moment, and Jake could ask him about his preference for meals as well."
" Tide is not here yet, I fear. He... is having breakfast with that little rascal on the beach. " Sage sighed tiredly as they were walking to cook 's room. " I can send Tide to you when he gets back, if you want, Svarik. "
"When he is free then, it can wait," Svarik smiled. "I think we will finally go to some of those nice places you mentioned and get back in the evening."
" Tide is not here yet, I fear. He... is having breakfast with that little rascal on the beach. " Sage sighed tiredly as they were walking to cook 's room. " I can send Tide to you when he gets back, if you want, Svarik. "

" I could lead you somewhere nice. Maybe around bottom of Sea?" Sage offeed. " You have proven a thoughtful friend to me. I can rearrange my schedule. I would be honored to, if you want, to lead you anywhere across the Sea. It would be my pleasure to treat you so, if you 'd allow. "
"That would be nice, if it's not a bother to you," Svarik smiled. "Melody and Jake haven's seen it yet, and I would love to see more as well. How is the Sea Deity doing?"
" It will be my pleasure - especially in light of your kindness to Sea Deity. For that, we are very obliged to you. " Sage smiled a little more freely with king anew. " The Sea is calm in last couple of days. Sea Deity is mostly sleeping - for it slept not at all since Long Night and now finally it can anew. Sleep seem to be doing it good. It is still in pain, but after I treat its soul a bit, the pain dulls, and it goes to slumber anew. I am very grateful to you for that. Had I known you are such a good lad and do not flinch from helping demons, I would have bid for your help earlier. "
" I shan't burden you too much with it now. This is your vacatin, after all. It would be debt hard to repay." Man smiled with at Svarik." If but I may make request - I would bid you to play for it once more, before you leave. We do not have soul healers here at Sea, and at best we can say, that we have me, and Tide - and he... is something else. Any help I would gladly take, if you are willing. "
" Thank you." Sage acknowledged his efforts warmly." And here is your room." He told Jake gently as they reached it. It was more like a little nice appartment, tidy, freshly clean, and spacious. Living room was nice and cozy, with sofas and table, for for guests coming over...
Jake seemed somewhat dumbfounded. He never had this big room before - his only dwelling little rooms for servants. He frown, not sure what to think of this, feeling unwelcome in for him lavish new environment that he felt he didn't earn, but was assigned only because Svarik called him friend... It was a pretty nice place, so it was hard not to like it, though, so his liking and amazement seemed mixed unrest and little weariness.
" It's somewhat lonely... Too big place for only one. I shan't be ungrateful to your efforts, though, and will take what I am given. " he whispered thoughtfully. " I.. Will request couple minutes, sire. Just a couple - for I have not much to unpack, just find place for my journals and cook books. May you tell me where will you be waiting for me? I will go there as soon as I finish unpacking... "
"Thank you, sire. " young cook whispered hoarsely, and as they were leaving, he slowly sat down on the sofa, thoughtfully and carefully, as if trying out sitting upon a cloud that one doesn't believe is there, and he stared before himself quietly, seeming to need a moment to take this in, both the unexpected treatment, and all the changes he got suddenly pushed into anew in but one day.
