" I do not think they can. " girl replied, watching after nimble demon that was playfully swimming in the water, turning around heavy stones in search for shells like they were feathers. " At least, no Spirits that I know of, can. I guess we just... evolved differently. Some Spirits can hold their breaths for very long, even days... But we all need to breathe, sooner or later. We need oxygen, whether from water, or air. "
" Let us do so indeed, my wonderful pumpkin! " Little Spirit grinned, and indeed, she got right to it, and they in pleasure of nice day and each other's company, searched on and on through the wonderful little heaven on the ocean floor, for the lovely shells.
Xia searched as ell, and when asked why, she proclaimed proudly and playfully that she wanted to find nice shell for *uncle*, despite the distance, not forgetting on Cernunnos, and desiring to give him something nice.
Svarik caressed her in praise for that. They gathered the nicest shells they found into a bag to find the best ones among them when they stop for a snack.
Erdel remained in water the longest, and he came back with heap of seashells of strange shapes and various shiny peculiar colors.
" You did very well. " Sage told him, observing the little, but unique heap curiously. " Lot of those, I see, are Spirit and Demon remnants. Not bad, for a first time. You have sharp senses. Would you mind, dear, if I took the rest of those shells from you, after you pick out the prettiest one? Tide likes eating seashells, they're like hard cookie for someone with his teeth, and those would be a tasty treat to him.. "
" Oh.. Yes, of course, as soon as we pick nicest one for Falcon. " Erdel blushed a little shyly at unexpected question. " If my king allows.. " he glanced at Svarik, to make sure it's alright.
Erdel smiled, seeming pleased that he can, unexpectedly to him, treat Tide with something he enjoys, like this. Sage found them a nice little peaceful oasis to rest upon, that had a wonderful view upon the sea world, and they stopped there, to have a picnic from delicious food they brought, and sort out the prettiest shells.
Svarik arranged the shells from prettiest ones in the left to those more common at right, and debated with Erdel and Melody about where to put each shell on the scale, taking it quite seriously to get the best one for Conrad.
Everyone seemed to take it quite seriously, as they all wanted to give Falcon something he would like. Sage as well took time to tell them all he knew about vaurious shell they found, telling them about them, and pointing out rarest and oldest ones.
" I guess it would be nice to meet some of your... Spirit friends here, Sage. I always liked meeting new people... " girl suggested hesitantly. " But I guess, we already know too much - I would not want to endanger anyone here with my knowledge of them.. So I guess, I can't think of anything as beautiful, as those lovely shells we came for... "
" I have never known there was such thing as Sea Deity. It would be nice to meet it, and maybe even play for it... I always love playing with you, my Sun.. "girl whispered hesitantly. " Do you think.. That it would be safe for me to meet it? I know you are worried about Death's future vision. I too, wouldn't like Death to learn of any of our new friends from me, and for that to be my fault... Do you think it would be alright, Sun? "
" I can't say I am close to Death - I doubt anyone other than little Nammy can claim that... But I do care for him, and I will do all I can to help you convince him to be merciful, if you need me to. "girl promised solemnly, and then she smiled. "And if it's really alright... I'd love to play for Sea Deity with you, my dearest... "
" I'm sure it will be splendid!" girl proclaimed playfully, with shyness and excitement toward new and dangerous, but experience tempting with something new and pleasant. Sage seemed very content and grateful for their good will, and, like last time, he led Svarik and group anew, to the place where, surrounded by many wonderful little critters buzzing around it and bringing it offerings of food and their care, lied a wounded magnificent beast, a majestic protector and deity of the Sea.
Creature seemed on border between sleep and waking, resting, trembling a little with its immense pain, but thanks to king's help still able to sleep through it and replenish its strenght. When it felt Svarik's presence, though, it shook of the sleepiness. Slowly, it howled, and turned to him, in all its greatness and might... And it whistled to him fondly and amiably, like greeting a friend, and softly, it lowered its massive head, and observed him with its huge etherial glistening eyes.
Critter looked upon him benevolently, and by the warm soothing stream in its aura, king could feel that it smiled. It nodded its permission, and softly, not to hurt them in its immense size, it lowered its head to the ground so Svarik can caress it freely, seeming to see little human that helped it as a friend.
" If it allows... " girl agreed shyly. With it, the deity payed more attention to her. Recognizing her as Spirit, it turned to her curiously. It did not get much Spirit visitors from the land, and more often than not, Spirits from afar were not to be trusted - but while Melody tried to explain her wish on Spirit language, it was Xia, though, that whistled on her soft language to big creature, to explain what Svarik and Melody desire and why they came. Deity tilted its head curiously at the little sweet spirit of morning dew, and it smiled a little gracefully. It nodded very lightly to meadow king, whistling something to him gracefully, as if to tell him she accepts his friends as people of trust.
