Svarik indeed took a second plate after he finished the first, as he felt how the food was restoring his strength.

Xia smiled a little, sensing he's feeling better, and she leaned at his side after finishing his meal, and purred quietly and soothingly, as if to tell him it's alright and that she's proud of him and happy for him, despite he couldn't follow a diet he set before himself. Tide was as well smiling a little, just like Melody, seeming relieved for him, knowing that as human his nourishment needs to be very good, to sustain how much he plays.

"Alright, I feel now we can talk about Death, if you feel like it," Svarik told Tide after dinner.
Administrator
" Having talk about it might as well safe my life. I shan't be picky." Tide said quietly." Ask me your questions, please. I will give you best arguments I have, to buy of my life with them, if I can."
Administrator
"Alright, so first could you tell me what are the symptoms of corruption? Is thee some clear, indisputable indication? I fear that Death's argument will be that he is a spirit and spirits can't get corrupted..." |
Administrator
" I understand." Tide nodded sadly." And there are lot symphoms, thought corruption is a little different for everyone. For Death, it is all this weakness. Spirit of his powers does not suddenly grow ill like that. He became weak, he requires nourishment and medicine, sleep and care... it is mark of soul crumbling under weight of pain and suffering. The fever, hunger, need of sleep - it are all unnatural signs of weakness that just should not be. It are all digns of a terribly ill and wounded soul..."
Administrator
"That is all true, but wounded soul is still not equal to corruption," Svarik said, imaging what Death's arguments could be, and wanting to be prepared. |
Administrator
" It is not equal, yes, but pain leads to corruption. " Critter whispered quietly." But if you want real proof... Feel the seventh layer of the world, little one. It is hard to notice if you don't know what to look for, but for a while I observed it, and I knew it to be something wrong with it, but I could not quite put finger on what it is. But now it all falls into place. His soul reeks of illness. I can understand it more clearly now. Ask him... if his soul feels like crumpled paper. Because, for lack of better term, his soul is crumpled, like a paper, under what he had been through.. his soul is in such disharmony with his true self, that it can not uncrumle on its own, and needs outside help to become ffine piece of paper again. Soul that is hurt, is soul that crumples a bit, but straightens on its own... soul that nears corruption is souo that gets more and more crumpled each moment, until it can be untangled no more, and collapses on itself."
Administrator
"How do you know it won't straighten on its own, after he gets better?" Svarik asked. "Are such rules even valid for someone like Death?" |
Administrator
" There is not a book on corruption. I can't claim to know all of it. I am but a person you could call... uncorruptable. I am a person that has achieved inner peace, and can't succomb to corruption." Creature whispered." I stopped many blossoming corruptions, with my inteferance... And I can tell you this....Yes, his soul would slowly strigjten up, if it got well enough. But it does not get better, though, does it? At first, just a nuisance, then an ilness, then weakness, then fever, then faintness, then need for food and sleep? Can you not see it is only getting worse? He may be a force of nature... but as soon as he developed personality to manifest himself in flesh, he became vulnerable to possibility of growing corrupted through his pains. He has personality - and all that has personality, is able to crumble under mental ilness. He will grow weaker and weaker, more fainter and more feverish, unable to discern what is real and what not... until he slowly loses his mind. That is the fate, of powerful Beings that fall into corruption. I wish I was wrong, for otherwise, my asistance would not be needed."
Administrator
"So can spirits get corrupted as well?" Svarik asked. "Is there some example I could give him to convince him that it's a serious possibility?" |
Administrator
" None that he would know of. " Demon said darkly. " He holds so many Spirits in hight health - but he can not possubly hold them all. Those who succomb to pain and madness are to ashamed to face him, knowing his ideals, of what should be deemed pure, and what not. They cover and hide before him, lost to his gaze. I was told you met one Spirit corrupted, in the land, Mordecai. He is not even fully corrupted, only dances on border of being corrupted and being just awfully wounded... and same sadly goes for Spirit Malachite, that your friend Erdel knows and fancies - his soul is coarse desert, and he walks border of sanity and corruption as well. I know of many other poor little Spirit souls, that I had to restrain, for I could not help them - but what can I give you, but my word, that they are corrupted indeed? Death would not know them - they are too little and indignificant for eyes of such Deity as himself to pay heed to... what else can I say, but they they exist? "
Administrator
"You say they are walking at the border. How does one recognise that someone got beyond that border?" Svarik asked quietly, feeling sorry for those oor Beings.
Administrator
" Let me correct myself. Corruption... Is in lot like mental illness in humans. There are those ho are mildly, just a little bit ill, and there are those who are terminally ill and whom you consider madman. " Tide said slowly, trying to find best comparison to explain. " When you are corrupted... Your soul is so twisted and out of tune and harmony, that it collapses on itself, and can't manifest a healthy material form. Those Spirits I mentioned... Yes, they are still corrupted, with illness of soul too grave to heal on its own - but they still have their minds. Maybe sometimes they have moments of darkness and feverishness, but they still have moments of clarity. Those who lost their mind completely to the corruption, those are to my knowledge unhelpeable - too mad to think, too mad to heal, in too much pain, anger and fear to stop the constant circle of adrenaline rush that pushes them over the roof. Like all humans who are mentally ill are mentally ill, all Beings that are corrupted are corrupted, no matter severity of corruption - but some, like Mordecai and Malachite, still can blend in and appear as any common Spirit, when you talk to them, as their illness is treatable, while severe corruption is something unmistakeable. You have seen it. You know how it feels. " Tide narrows eyes at him with little thoughtful smile. " It was not Spirit, but Demon one, but corruption is corruption still - that to say, you have been in the crypt in the capital. You have done a feat few are capable - you healed something utterly rotten and corrupted, instead of seeking to destroy it. It is a feat unmistekeably amazing... Something I have seen no other human than you, capable of doing. True, you was helped by a strong stream of music from Mountain heart, but what you did was still unpresidented. I am just surprised, that you know not more of corruption from that experience. Whether is demon, or spirit, there's little difference, it's still the terrifying, incurable illness of soul. You was only able to cure one because you basically became part of chain of corruption and your soul was linked to it, those allowing your clean soul to pass on its clarity further, and you only had power to do it thanks to immense stream of pure music you were given. Otherwise, you'd be helpless, too. What you felt in vein - it is a madness corrupted soul lives with in itself every day. It is madness slowly blooming in Death's heart. "
Administrator
"So the corruption in the Vein is the same as corruption in Beings?" Svarik asked thoughtfully. "Then I think I can understand it better..."
Administrator
" The Vein was not as self aware as Beings are - its consciousness was very faint and vague. What corruption in Beings is... It is same, only on deeper level. Generally, bigger your soul is, more terrifying effects you'll have on the world once you brake down under corruption. Vein was, thankfully, on one spot, but who knows how much destruction it would bring to the world, if it was, like a Being, just walking around, spreading its foul disease. "
" I think... That Cernnunnos is corrupted, too. " Erdel whispered thoughtfully and sadly, able to understand ancient hurt demon a little better now, in light of what they learned. " All that weakness, miasma... And the panic, fear and faintness, and moments of dim thoughts and unclear words... I think he is more gone into the corruption, than Mordecai. From what you said of him, his weakness was mostly focused on his flesh - and while Malachite seemed in lot lost and in his world, his form and flesh were in lot untouched under weight of his illness. I think he takes and drinks as well, the medicine that he mixed up for Cernunnos. Maybe that's why he's still kind of okay, where Cernunnos certainly is not... He is at least properly medicated, and doesn't have weight of all that stale miasma, weighting him down. " |
Administrator
"Do you think he is beyond healing?" Svarik asked quietly. |
Administrator
" Cernunnos - I think he is not quite yet. I would have to see him, to be sure. " Tide said quietly. " Erdel spoke me of him, when asking for advise, and I was in compassion of him. For someone to survive with any sort of mind, in such unhealthy environment, means its person of great mental strength. Living in awful circumstances, and still surviving, staying alive - it is a feat worthy of praise. I think he is helpeable, but that his healing would be slow and take time. " Tide admitted. " Had I not learned of Death's illness, I would be eager to go meet and help another fellow survivor... But I can not do so now, when I can't stay to help him. There is a danger lingering in that forest. I would need someone like Xia, a flier, to help me be able to go back and forth from there to my home easily. And now, I can not afford it, even if I want to - for Death's state is too serious. Death's illness would first to be dealt with, before I can meet that poor little Forest Demon you like so fondly, and hope to do anything for him. As long as there's mind left in him, there's still a window of chance, that I can be of assistance. And if he grows too ill, and corrupts fully... " he frown quietly. " Well... I guess somebody with my talents would be welcome, none the less, to eat him, if needs arises. Such corrupted demons, mindless, can be very dangerous, and hurt others in their panic and pain, even though they'd never do it with clear mind. I'd have to eat him, if he gets beyond helping, to make sure he doesn't hurt anyone and so his soul can be cleansed through me. "

"Is that different for demons, than dying and being reborn like spirits with no memories?" Svarik asked, wondering what would be a better fate. 2017-05-31 12:32 GMT+02:00 VisAnastasis [via Cherrizon 2] <[hidden email]>: " Cernunnos - I think he is not quite yet. " It is only thing I can do, for someone who's lost his mind. " creature whispered quietly. " Only thing I deem right. Spirits, I can not eat - but Demons, I can. I can not let rogue demons, just going around, hurting people and the world, until they are themselves slain cruelly, you understand. So, Spirits, I capture, and seal... Most of demons I eat, though. "
Administrator
"I just wonder, if you had both options - to be eaten, or to be reborn, which would you find better?" Svarik asked.
Administrator
" Neither, of course. You need to understand, I am different from other soul eaters now, after I reached enlightenment. When I eat demon, I can actually *help* the one I eat. Did you... Do you perhaps know of story Red Riding Hood? Do you know part when wolf eats grandma and red, but later they cut open its belly, and the two of them are okay? Well... when I swallow souls... I am a wholesome person, and I can maintain the soul within me for a while, and still be able to throw it out for some time. I have inner peace, that I can influence others with. That is why I swallow mad souls. So I can purify them while they rest within me. I am what demons deem pure."
Administrator
"So you can actually heal them in that way and then let them go again?" Svarik asked, astonished by that ability.
Administrator
" I used to do that, a lot. It is my passion. I am only telling you this much, because you are a friend, and I trust you. " Demon whispered." I used to do this a lot. But in last few hundreds year, I had... a hardship. Hardship is, that after being tortured by the emperors, Hans had lost his voice and power to Sing. I used to stabilize and harmonize demons I swallow, and then when I would throw them up, Hans would call out their true name, to help clothe their souls with bodies again. But now Hans lost his voice.... so when I purify a soul, I ask it what it wants. Some ask me to let them die so they can be reborn even as Spirits. Most ask from me to seal them, though, so they can rest until I find a Singer that can help their souls clothe themselves with body yet. Hans's loss of voice really... was a big punch for both of us." He admitted little sadly.
Administrator
"Oh, that's sad..." Svarik sighed. "I know one Singer. But I can't promise you anything, it would be his decision to help you. Or maybe he could even help Hans... I hoped to keep him close as a friend, but if he is needed here more, and willing to go, I would send him here..."
