"Is it hard to you?" Svarik asked gently. "I fear I don't understand how being you feels... I don't know how you perceive the places where your roots reach, and those that are just under your influence. I imagined it like a scent that carries in the air, concentrated at the source and getting more faint with distance. You are the source of it, but have no control over how far it reaches other than producing more or fewer of it- that's how I imagine it. Is it not so? If your scent - influence - would reach there, would you feel it?"

" You're right in all you say. " Simbel replied faintly in thought. " I generally don't have control over warmth I bring to the world... I just make more, the stronger I am. I'm not fully powerless in it, though, as you know - I can focus it around certain people I choose to, to make them feel better. That already falls in my choice. Better... better you take care of me, better I can focus to do such things. I often used to envelop you in my aura when you were ill and troubled, to soothe you. " he whispered shyly, but then admitted a little vulnerably. " But that warmth, that aura... It's also an.. extension of myself. Not like a limb, but... like... like cat's whiskers. " he said finally after getting right metaphor. " I make sense of the world around me and perceive it, through that scent that to me... is like a scent of touch. It won't be hard for me to do... what you ask... physically. " he embraced himself around shoulders vulnerably. " But... emotionally... it's... " he cringed a little. " It's... hard... "

"Oh, I didn't know that..." Svarik said gently. "I'm sorry... We wohld have included you in the discussion right from start if we knew. Let's do that now, then." He repeated to others what Simbel told him.

The two listened quietly. They had conflicting opinions about the matter, though.
" That sounds about right, but I still think we should go with it. " Falcon replied calmly, not seeming much surprised. " I think it's best thing to do, not only for demons, but for Simbel, too. It's in his nature to help, and more he gets used to presence of demons and sees relief he brings to them, he'll better grow into his nature and grow out of White Eagle's influence. I think it can only be a good thing for all involved... "

" Simbel is a very benevolent creature, but I didn't plan us to push him into this right away, either, just start making preparations for it, that's all... " Zephir replied quietly, tense when going against Falcon's word. " He's trying his best, but miasma and demons in wrath and anger are still terrifying to him.. He's.. He's giving his all. I, of course, thought form the start that Simbel and your other half'll need more time than one meeting to get to it. We too.. It should be something we only do with great caution, even if not much could go wrong, from my knowledge, as long as we're in control of Vein. It'll require lot of preparations, so it's not something to happen in two minutes... Best way, as Simbel guesses, it to open portal from our side. But I wanted us to do that, with all possible precautions in place. I already have many runes in plan, that I can carve  in stone, to make sure the door is open from our side, but doesn't open up from their side.... I wouldn't suggest this if I didn't know how to overide the system. I can't destroy the barrier, but a little gap, little breeze from our side, that's doable. I thought... " he blushed. " Not only Simbel's warmth... When we find it's proper, we could, maybe.... use it to send more things. Like food.. medicine.... seeds.... maybe even notes, when time is right, in enough lifetimes. Nothing of it can happen without Simbel's cooperation, but I'd never do anything of such sort, before he's sure he wants it... Bad things happen, when you do things your heart's not into... "

"So what we ars going to do now, is just tell the other one that we would like to do that? Like Simbel already knows... Give both time to think about it and tell us when they are ready for doing it?" Svarik asked.

" That would be best. " Zephir whispered shyly. " Don't get me wrong, sir... If it was me, I'd desire it to be this very day. I don't like, feeling them suffer. But I don't want Simbel to suffer, either. " he replied quietly. " We need to explain to your other half, what we want, and see how he feels about it... But we could also check out the place, now that darkness is cleansed. If you're curious.. " he tempted him shyly. " You seem to have lot of time, um, today... If you're in the mood, as we go into the yard of the fort, I could explain you how ceremonial stone rings are made, and draw you some schemes of how we can make stable structures from stone that would be  safest for it... and I could how you some runes I'd use if we'd choose to do that.... We could put bullet points to the plan. Biggest journeys start with a singe step, and.. " he grinned fraily, as he suggested hopefully. " It could be... f-fun step... "

Svarik looked torn between the wish to not go to that place but just wait for them in the carriage, and the interest in Zephir's work and desire to be close to Conrad. "I guess I could go with you then..." he murmured.

Falcon wasn't born yesterday, though. He knew quickly to pick up on king's mood, and he looked at him with mysterious, innocent look.
" No." He shook his head firmly, as he dlbid, giving Zephir significant look." You know what, kids? You both had felt too bad at that place. We won't party there, not right now. But Zephir can check it out and remember how it looks - and we could just go out of City walls, and I could lead you to my famous extra secret adventures. On our adventures outside city wall, when we make brake for meal, you can have all the talks of anything you like about stones and whatnot... And I will throw in a bonus of not evesdropping so you can speak more comfortably, Zephir. So? How does that sound, kiddos? Ready for some  casual uneventful adventure?"

" I.. haven't had time to be outside of walls, since I came here..." Zephir said wonderingly." I guess I would... Like that, too... "
" It's settled, then." Falcon said resolutely." We're going to have picnic, kids. We will bring showels and a cart eith soil this time, though." He said mysteriously, as if tempting them." There's something I want you two to help me dig up, and I pinky promise it's something nice and colorful, and totally not a corpse."

" Trust me, if I wanted to dig up a corpse, I'd bring with me better liers, than you three goodie-two-shoes. " Falcon grinned at them. " Shall we go to kitchen to pack some food first?"
" I can help you pack." Simbel offered faintly when he understood, seeming still withdrawn and vulnerable with thoughts of what they asked from him before, acutely aware of demons in sixth layer with it."  But I can't follow you in person. Instead, I'll make sure you have warmth kept here, to return to safety after your trip..."

" Yes, literally." Simbel snickered a little at that, it seeming to brighten your his mood a bit. As they stood up, he nonchalantly took Zephir under the arm, gently and attentively helping him lean upon him as he walked, without making big deal from it, whick seemed reassuring and soothing to frail man, that seemed to grow more and more fond of him every moment.

In turn, Falcon, a strong walnut that he was, didn't seem to have much health problems by now - he was stubborn and strong like a horse. He took Svarik under the arm innocently, whistling without a care in the world, helping him go down to kitchen, where they picked delicious food, and Simbel packed it attentively in bright pink basket for them.

It seemed that moving was doing better to Svarik than sitting on the couch - mostly for occupying his thoughts with preparations for the trip.

They were ready and embarked on their trip soon. Before going outside of city walls, they had a first, heavy stop to make - and so, before all else, they set their course for Derhain fort, where Zephir and Conrad were to question Svarik's other side.

Zephir was hesitant to go alone with Falcon, but he smiled bravely, and taking back his bag, he quietly did so, following after man hesitantly. They went inside, and they took a safe room in the fort where they could lock door behind themselves, just in case, for safety measure - and then they drank the potion that transported their minds to second layer of the world, where they could meet Svarik's other half.

He was there, watching them curiously, as if he felt their arrival. He looked like Svarik, but it seemed like there was something different about him, something hard to define.

Falcon was in his bird form, that is to say, one of a falcon... He stood before him on the ground, though, not flying, just remaining neutral.
Zephir looked shy - and very pretty. It was surprising form, to come from such timid young man. He was an exotic bird, that although looking frail and somewhat dirty, with colors dulled, still had some trace of old  vibrancy around it. https://image.freepik.com/foto-gratis/colorido-sol-conure-loro-en-seco-girasol_4043-327.jpg
It seemed overwhelmed and frightful, tiny before a man before it. Still, it gathered its courage, knowing it can speak, and Falcon can not.
" H-hello... " it whistled thinly, its high pitched voice resembling speech of demons a little, reflection of his ancestry, perhaps. " We come in p-peace... "

(Let's call the other Svarik Svar, ok? I think it fits him...) Svar looked at him a bit wonderingly, not having met him before, and not having met a talking animal form in the second layer, either. "Hello," he said. "Who are you?"

( I checked, just from curiosity - in old norse *svar* means, to answer, to reply * :) )

" Singer. " little bird replied shyly, seeming tense and timid before him, but honest. " Singer from the Highlands, sir. A gust of music and wind carried from the cold mountains... Zephir. "

"A Singer?" Svar wondered. "Did you come to seek the Vein, then?"
