Conrad held him closely, his shoulders shaking slightly. He didn't say anything for a moment, as if many words were swelling in his heart.
" I am... Sorry too. I know it sucks to be scolded by me," he finally replied hoarsely, scrapping words." I am sorry. I am so sorry.... I know you made the right choice. Tide really adores that kid, he would not blame you, but he would grieve. I don't want him to lose something good he has. Yet... I can't lose this, either. Svarik, I..." He tightedned his embrace protectively, as if trying to hide him from the world." I can't do this without you, okay? With eternity ahead, I... I need you to stay with me as long as humanly possible. The thought... The thought of holding your cold dead body one day terrifies me. I can't accept it yet..." |

"I know, I know..." Svarik shivered, knowing perfectly well how that feels and being reminded on it just a few hours ago. "I wouldn't do that to you. You know that, don’t you? It would be selfish from me... What I did now seemed a safe risk to me."

" I know Death was there, to catch your soul if needed, and Eros was there too, and thanks to him, we were able to make and give you nutrients to pull through... but it's a loser's victory, okay? Relying on one person that itself is on verge of dying, and on the other that only came to watch the play because Hans guilted them, " Conrad sighed, not letting go. " They could have easily not been there. I am not speaking just for now, but for the future, too. I don't... know magic myself, so I have to trust you on this. But if Death didn't warn us that you needed nutrients right away, and Eros didn't make then for you, you would probably be dead, " his voice wavered. " How can I trust you when they are not there, then? If... if you were not so stubborn as to decide to heal both all three kids and grow Hans's tail in the same day, you wouldn't be so on the edge about healing one more person... You are a fool for overworking yourself before that point, and I am a fool for letting you. " he sighed. " I knew it was unreasonable to let you strain so much in one day, but I didn't have the heart to stop you, so I am even more at blame than you... "

"They were there, though. If not I'd judge the situation differently. But yes," Svarik sighed, "spending my magic like that was the true mistake. We couldn't have known and it's so hard to help the means to help someone and not do it... but it was still a mistake. I think I shouldn't spend more than half of what I have every day. I dread to imagine I'd spend all of it and something happened to you then..."

As he said it, some tenseness finally seems to slowly seep away, and he snorted, finally reassured a little, relaxing slowly with the closeness and Svarik's words.
" You damn sweet talker... You sure are getting better at this. I just can't stay angry at you, " he murmured. " Can you please hold onto that thought in future, then? Not just for me, but for safety. Kids, okay, I get it, they had a very hard life and deserved fast treatment. But, while Hans would have been in the worst state after trying to Sing while injured, even if he died from it, he can still be reborn, now that Death is on Tide's side, okay? It was excessive to heal him on the same day, too. I am just a bastard that felt too bad to stop you. But if I can't stop you, and you can't stop you, who's going to stop you? " he smiled faintly. " You don't even like Hans, leaving his healing for the day after it would have been understandable... He didn't even expect you to heal him at all, but you insisted... " |

"Well, we were supposed to be leaving today, I wasn’t sure I'll get the chance," Svarik muttered. "Guess that's not happening now, it's too late for travel..."

" Oh.. yes... it was supposed to be a surprise, just in case you like staying here too much... but I arranged some things in the capital before we left. " Falcon seemed a little embarrassed, straightening his back a little." That is to say, I wrote a couple of days of decisions and memos in advance, to be sent them out at believable intervals so it appears you are still there after today and made arrangements to begin renovating the outside walls of your new mansion, under pretence before public you are busy overseeing those renovations yourself. So, while I am at fault for not telling you at a time, because I waited to see if you'd seem inclined to it and surprise you dramatically...lamest way to say surprise incoming, I guess? We can stay here at least for three more days together if you'd like. I did write enough materials to last for around a week, but this is the first time I am leaving the city for so long, so if the need comes up, I'd see to it to return sooner than that, and maybe buy you some more time, if the situation in the capital is favourable... "

"Oh. Well, it would certainly simplify things if you would tell me before healing Hans," Svarik smirked a little. "But thanks, I guess. Three days seems ideal to have that little vacation we somehow didn’t manage to have yet."
Administrator
" I didn't think the only reason why you rushed to heal Hans was that you were pressed for time, and thought it was more time-efficient to heal him right away, you oversized doughnut, "Conrad snorted. " I thought you would feel too bad to delay healing, and hence have him be in pain for longer, geese, my bad. But now that you clarified, after you drink and warm-up, what do you want to do for the rest of our little holiday? Do you have some plans? If they are not too over the top, I may let you do it, after every single overpowered magical creature in the mansion confirms me your health is stable first, naturally. "
Administrator
"No plans," Svarik smiled. "Isn't that the best plan? Just go to the city or to the beach and do whatever we feel like doing."

Falcon rolled his eyes, but he seemed placated and bemused by this point, as talking out the matter quickly and agreeing seemed to raise his spirits a bit.
" Oh, well, you ask a lot, from a plan-o-holic not to make plans, " he teased more softly, warmth in his words, as he caressed Svarik's hair lightly. " I promise to keep plans to a minimum. What do you say we warm that fuzzy blanket nicely first then, okay? Some minimal planning is a must. For example, raiding kitchen later after you feel better seems like a good start. It wouldn't hurt to go to the roof and have a little picnic later maybe, what do you say? I heard the view from the room here is the best... " |
Administrator
"That sounds like a good plan," Svarik agreed.

Falcon nodded, and calmed by now, he could focus on the task. He warmed Svarik's blankets one by one by the fire until they were pleasantly hot, and then he tucked him in, enjoying spoiling the meadow king, that, by this time, with how bad Svarik's luck was, seemed to be something he came to love doing. He took care of him and made him warm, and around the time meadow king calmed and was more reassured, there was a knock on the door and Eros entered, carrying a tray with cups and a big teapot that was, definitely, filled with way too caloric drink for common men - but perfect for a wizard that lost too much energy and needed quick refilling.

"Thank you," Svarik nodded, taking a cup eagerly, as he was feeling nauseous and faint with hunger at the same time, abd the smell of the drink made it feel perfect for both. He drank in slow sips and as he did so, he gradually felt better. "How's everyone doing?" he asked then.

Being sat down on the chair at aside, holding the tray, and refilling Svarik's cup shyly when needed - it seemed he didn't like standing in Svarik's presence as if he was worried he may scare him with his tall and imposing figure and large horns.
" Oh, you mean everyone from last night's theatre issue, everyone in the mansion in general, or every one of your friends and family? " he asked with more colour in his voice, seeming eager to help out. " I can't randomly trace people I do not know, but there are sincere and clear feelings connecting you to many, so using you as an anchor, I can probably give you some news of the outside. If you mean on inside, in physical terms, Senecio is quite shaken, but Hans's body took it worst, he will probably take longest to wake up. Tide had the biggest crisis, not only because of what happened but because he and Hans had fallen out, too, and Death and Xia didn't want to come to the party, either, and he felt like he couldn't make anyone happy. All in all, it was heavy for everyone, but I would say Tide's sadness is more relevant to you, " Being expressed his hopes then shyly. " He really looked forward to giving you a good time at the ball last night, and was so sad you weren't able to come... That information might be relevant in your future. I won't tell you what to do, but if the occasion arises, you should give him a chance to make it up to you... " |
Administrator
"Oh, the ball..." Svarik grimaced. "I missed it, didn’t I? I was looking forward to it... Well, we might figure out something to make up for it, I hope. How was it?"

" I spent most of it making sure everyone is safe and things are going smoothly, so I can't personally attest to it, but lot of people had lot of fun," Eros explained heartily." It was the first time so many of our Beings were gathered in the open, it was a sight to behold... They are all really loyal to Tide though, so as for the Beings, lot of the first part of night was mixed, as they were disppeased to see Tide miserable after he argued with his boyfriend. That had abig risk to ruin the night for the spiritual folk. But later, when Senecio and Tide made peace and danced, and when Tide sang a song for everyone, the lad was very affectionate to him in public, and you know those things mean a world to Tide... Everyone knows. So after that, many more of his people favored Senecio more, and even after the pair left, reassured, others were able to have a better time. Music was great, food was fit for Beings and humans, interesting talks were exchanged, dances were vivid, and it was certainly a sight to behold, to see Senecio, and Tide dressed in a flowy dress, dancing on the water...and Tide singing while holding him later," Being smiled wistfully." It is pity for them three that it was bittersweet, and didn't last longer, but it was beautiful and rare occasion for so many to gather together..."

"I'm really sorry I missed that," Svarik sighed. "But why did Tide and Senecio argue? I thought they'd be glad and relieved... especially Tide," he said, unable to not take it a little personally after he put so much effort into healing Senecio so that Tide wouldn't have to grieve. He stopped himself from such thoughts though. "Actually, no. Don't tell me. It's not my place to know. I'm not going to meddle into whatever's between them. It's their private thing."
Administrator
" Oh... I wouldn't really go into private details... But it is relevant to know at least this much, for your sake. I am sure you are as protective of your privacy as anyone, so please, let me say this much at least, so you can be prepared. " Being said hesitantly, but urgently - he clearly could feel Svarik was taking it personally, and wanting to ease his mind, while telling as little as possible, seeming to feel disheartened himself, lowering his head apologetically " It is not your fault in any way. It is... mine. My blood worked. It cured him. But... it had consequences. " he sighed. " Some of my powers did end up rubbing off on him, after all. He can feel the emotions of others now. Tide felt too exposed and vulnerable about it, and they had a disagreement over it. Since you will interact with Senecio in the future, you have to know this much. I won't say more if you are uncomfortable knowing. " he pleaded, almost with fearful tone. " Please, forgive me for informing you against your will, but I can not bear to put you in an unfavourable position by keeping you ignorant... "
Administrator
"Ah, so that's why they quarreled?" Svarik asked. "Well, I guess as a Listener it's no big deal to me, but if Tide feels self-conscious about it, I can see it being hard to him. I'm not going to meddle into it, though. I hope they can work it out between themselves, it would be a shame if they don't."
Administrator
" I don't understand... Why would it be a shame? " from worried that Svarik would dislike him if he insists on the subject, Being suddenly seemed a little confused, from surprise speaking his mind more freely. " If they do not work it out, it would only mean they are not just right for each other, and it would be better for them to part. Of course, I cheer for them, however," Being shook his head lightly, with an expression rather protective, both a little sad and unexpectedly loving. " I am far less worried for Tide, he has a lot to live for, Senecio is just... at such disadvantage. I know you have little warmth for him in your heart, but it's okay. You just wouldn't understand... the kind of life he had. Even when least unfortunate, throughout your life, you were deeply loved by the land, and you were deeply admired by the people you met... You are a magnet for love, all that is loving is drawn to you.... "
" Come on, it's not like Svarik only had good things in life, the way you say it is so misleading, " Falcon grumbled, and creature agreed. " I am not saying it is. I am just saying that there at least always was something good or hopeful to hold onto. It is just that, if your friend has enough threads of love to weave a silk dress a hundred times over, Senecio wouldn't have enough to even weave a pitiful little bracelet... It's him I am worried about most dearly. Tide would suffer, but he would deal with it in the end, his emotional strength is most admirable... It is not like I wanted to save him for the sake of being Tide's mate. I saved Senecio for Senecio's sake. I just hope he will have better opportunities to find people that find him loveable as you had. It would be... a mistake to say no one ever treasured him as deeply as Tide does... The truth that I can attest to is that no one truly treasured him at all before then. My only hope is that he works our his own self before anything further progressed with Tide at all. It is hard to maintain a relationship when it is the first really good thing you had. Before this point, his life was but a terrifying circle of desperately chasing superficial things because everything deeper is either agonizingly hollow or horryfingly painful, and hurts to be reflected upon. It is hard to watch... " |
Administrator
"That's why I said it would be a shame if it doesn't work for them," Svarik said simply.
Administrator
" Tide has been a complete person searching for a complementing mate since longer than forever, though, while Senecio always felt incomplete and judged that it was futile to hope for anything better. However you look at it, it's a worrying combination of two pangs of hunger meeting in the middle. It can consume them both if they are not careful. That's why I worry, because I love then, " Being shook its head lightly. " I won't talk much of it, if you're not interesting to talk about it... Then, I will not prolong what I wished to ask you. What are your intentions with me? "
" What do you mean, what intentions? " Conrad tried to ease the lightly more serious atmosphere with the current direction of the talk. " You are handsome and all, but Svarik is taken, so tough luck, buddy... " " You know I didn't ask for that, " Being snorted shyly, but with a vulnerable look in his eyes, as he gazed back at Svarik, his intelligent soft eyes looking at him firmly. " Please, if you are willing, clear my doubts. Are you... uncomfortable with my existence, too, like Senecio? Do you want me to leave you now? Lot of people... dislike me, or disfavour me, for various reasons. " he paused, not sure how to say the next words. " Yesterday when our eyes first met you stepped back from me, so do not hate my assumption if it's wrong, but... I assumed, sooner or later, that you'll grow uncomfortable with me, but that you would be too polite to say it, " his smile with the words was as soft, but his lightly hoarse voice was revealing his vulnerability" ... but I would rather know right away, than wait and dread the possiblity... " |
Administrator
"It's not that I'm not interested in them," Svarik said, "but I feel I'd be overstepping boundaries if I try to meddle between them. And about you... I said it's no big deal to me if you can sense how I feel. But knowing that you can sense if backwards... one gets a bit uncertain, when meeting someone like that. It feels like being too exposed in a too short time, without even a proper introduction. But by catching up on that, I'm getting less uncomfortable. You can't unlearn what you already know about me, but I can get to know you better, so that imbalance in knowledge can't really get bigger, only smaller."

Being watched him intently for a moment, as if, despite Svarik's words, it was hard for him to believe them right away - with his kind of nature and power, Eros must have had a long history of being distrusted and misunderstood.
" I can only know how you felt, not see what you have been through... feelings, not memories, is my domain. But yes. While some feelings are rather vague, some are very... eloquent. I probably know more than you would like a stranger to, " he finally replied, hesitantly, as if trying to acknowledge the unsaid without saying it, still. " It is not a willing choice to me, though. I... know it's unintuitive, but... I was personification before a person. You see me before you so you think of me as a person, and I am, " he looked at him hopefully. " But... I am not merely looking into your past. I "am" your past. I am all the feelings you have ever felt, imprinted upon the well of feelings of the world, forever. Every second you live, I live it through you, this second too," he gulped. " And through everyone else, as well. I just experience the sentient life as it happens, and the knowledge of what it feels each second just stays with me in what you call past. I know how everyone felt in the past because I lived it. " "So... you can only know something because you have been alive while it was happening? " Falcon asked suspiciously. " Yes, " Being replied quietly, lowering its head. " It is... hard for me when people judge me over it, because it is not as if I am a prying person... I can not choose to not look into the past, little one.I know how you felt through your life because your feelings are in *my* past. I would never name myself something misleading like life, of course, but my existence hinges on collective feelings of the living. For you, it is s if I am looking into your past... for me, it is as if remembering my past. It just isn't recalling memories. I would have no images bound to it. So at least you should have no fears I can see what you don't want me to... " |
