" I would . But I don't want to bother the two of you. I don't want to be a third wheel without reason , when I am not that. "'vampire whispered." I hate bothering... I am really okay with this. I just guess I can't help feeling a little selfish, too, when it comes to joy of my friends." He smiled bit sadly " I would love to see it... but not at expense of being a bother. I have had enough of that in my life. I wish you good luck tonight, kiddo. "
"Thank you," Senecio said, clutching the cloth. "I will see how the situation develops. But if Tide enjoys it, he will surely tell you in the morning. "
" I would like that. " Erdel nodded." By the way, little word of advise - if you want to get to know what Tide likes, there is this board game, called Dixit. He is super talkative when he plays and is excited. He would get the simplest cards about flowers and bees, and go on and on how sweet and cuddly they are, or cards of seas and go on to speak how wonderful and fluent water is and so on.... It's adorable, plus, you can get inspiration for presents should you need it. Get him to play that game with you sometimes. I am sure you will both love it. Just a tip from my observations. " Vampire nodded to him quietly, and turned to leave.
" Come on in." Demon invited him. This time around, he seemed less tense, knowing Senecio is busy with present, and instead of worrying he was writing the instructions for Erdel diligently.
Tide frown a bit with it.
" Is something wrong?" He bid as he stood up right away. " Wgere is Erdel? Did you argue again?" He added with worry, glancing at him, trying to figure out by his posture and look if something bad happened.
" Really? A gift for me?" Tide 's face mellowed up softly.... but then it grew a little tense as he realized what does it mean. " Oh..." ge paused a little, bitting his lip. " Be honest... it was weird for me that you imvested so much of your time in present for my king... it was just a decoy. You was making gift for me, was not you?"
" Um... It's not really *wrong*... But... it's just not what I wanted... " creature bit his lip. " I told you what I wanted. I wanted you two to make a nice gift for meadow king... For my dear friend. " he shook his head, and he seemed a little confused as well. " He had spared thee, and he deserved some nice sign of attention... Tell me, how bad is it? " he asked with worry, seeming to be concerned it was just an afterthought rushed together quickly just to call it done, instead of something put through into" That gift was supposed to be meaningful, to have your heart poured into it... Tell me as it is. If it's bad, I could borrow you some money, in worst case, and two of us can go to Fourth city early morning before he wakes, to get him something appropriate... He is the one that you wronged and have rocky relationship with, not me. " he smiled a little sadly. " You have nothing to mend with me or prove to me. I already like you... This was not supposed to be about me, but about getting along with my friends and family. "
"But you doubt me..." Senecio whispered, hurt by that. "We took this long to find and make both presents nice, and also presents for others... We did quarrel a bit, but we actually enjoyed making it together with Erdel. He was looking forward to your joy of it... But if you want, I can call him to show you the king's present first."
Tide did not wish to hurt him, and he took a step back, looking down.
" I.. am sorry... I am doing it again, am I not? " he bid sadly. " I am doubting you... I am truly sorry. It's hard to go against it. I am just afraid that you were going to make it all about me, when it wasn't supposed to be like that... There'd be plenty of times for things to be about *us*, I just didn't feel this had to be. " he bit his lip, before he gulped, and asked vulnerably, as if it was something very important for him. " Did you really... enjoy it? Did you have fun together? "
"I told you already," Senecio murmured, still feeling that he is doubted. "We quarreled a bit, but then we maneged to clear it out and have fun. We did not make your present instead of any other. We made it on top, because we wanted to..."
Tide's brow cleared out a little with that, as if that had made a really big significant difference to him.
" Then.. " he coughed, and added shyly, with blush spreading across his cheeks. " Then I would really like to see it... if the offer still stands... of course... "
Senecio tried, but he could not shake off the doubting just so, still feeling a bit offended by it after the effort he put into making the present perfect. "It's in my room, under the cloth," he said. "Go see it, I will stay here..."
Tide seemed to understand he crossed the line, and he nodded quietly, but he hesitated, remaining as he was.
" I don't need amazing gifts, to feel special. I would rather have someone who looks at me like I am special. Someone who shares my joy. You are too upset to share joy with me now. " He whispered quietly then. " No gift would make me happy, like this... I would rather have us stay here, and but, at least but hold your hand, if you'd let me. Please, don't make me go on my own... "
" You could sleep in my bed, then. " Tide suggested, looking rather sad and miserable for spoiling this unknowingly. " If you would but let me hold your hand while you sleep... That would be all I need. We could just check out the gift tomorrow... I don't mind... "
Demon hesitated for a moment. He then quietly sat down on the floor beside the bed. He did not dare touch him without permission, and despite what he asked, he felt it would be wrong to force him to hold hands with him, so he just remained sitting there close by quietly, watching him sadly, with face fallen.
Senecio closed his eyes immediately, pretending to be asleep... but he wasn't. He couldn't sleep like that. He just half-opened his eyes after a while, and reached for Tide's hand. He pulled it gently over him into an embrace, and then curled under it and closed his eyes again.
Creature let it remain so as lad placed it, letting him curl under it comfortably. It seemed he was left with heavy heart, though, and his breathing seemed bathed, and by subtle suppressed trembling every once in a while, it seemed that he was either crying, or more like, rather unsuccessfully trying to stop himself from crying and suppress the tears.
